Important Bird Area
An Important Bird Area (IBA) is an area recognized as being globally important habitat for the conservation of bird populations. IBAs are sites that regularly support significant breeding, wintering, or migration. These locations could also contain habitats that are rare or unique. In addition, these places can contain large numbers of birds or are vital for long-term research and monitoring of birds. Two IBA’s exist within the immediate vicinity of the Ohio River Water Trail - Raccoon Creek and Little Beaver Creek.
